What Exactly is FSD?
Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) is an ongoing or recurrent problem with the sexual response in women. It’s defined by a series of symptoms including a lack of sexual desire, trouble becoming aroused, trouble achieving orgasm, and pain during sex.
Because sexual response involves an intricate entanglement of emotion, physiology, physicality, health, experience, beliefs, lifestyle, and relationships, the disruption of one or more of these elements can set off FSD. Sexual dysfunction can be a lifelong or temporary issue, and it can happen all at once or just with certain partners.
Recognizing the Signs of FSD
The causes of Female Sexual Dysfunction, generally speaking, can be physical, gynecological, hormonal, psychological, and emotional. This gives way to a very extensive range of possibilities and combinations that can cause the condition to surface.

Starting with a thorough physical and gynecological examination, and then a psychological evaluation, your doctor will chip away at the possible underlying causes to give you a proper diagnosis. How is FSD Treated?
FSD can mostly be corrected by treating the underlying physical or psychological issues. Depending on the severity of the sexual dysfunction a woman is experiencing, it is common to have her work with both her doctor and a therapist.
From there, treatment typically involves the following:
Understanding not only FSD but human anatomy is something that can help a woman overcome mental and physical barriers in terms of her sexuality. Learning about sexual function, behaviors, and responses, as well as the normal changes associated with aging and hormones can alleviate the stress and pressure a woman may be feeling.
Especially if the issue is with desire and arousal, experimenting with different means of stimulation can help. This can include the use of sex toys, taking the time to learn to masturbate properly, or using other erotic materials such as books, videos, or erotic stories.
This can be done with both a partner and individually.
Distraction techniques may involve using erotic (or non-erotic) fantasies, playing certain music or videos, and specific exercises involving intercourse. The purpose of these techniques is to alleviate anxiety and promote relaxation.
Practicing Non-Coital Behaviors
Non-coital behaviors are behaviors that are physically stimulating but don’t involve penetrative sex. A sensual massage is considered a non-coital behavior, and its purpose is to create or increase the comfort level as well as the communication between two partners.
Pain during intercourse can be due to several issues, including a lack of lubrication. To minimize pain, a woman may be directed to try a personal lubricant, certain positions that will allow her to have control over the penetration, and even taking a warm bath to promote relaxation.
